![]() I'm going to assume they do because this base is good.but obviously I'm currently reading through the JTR so I know what's what. I really hope the TMO office here knows what's going on. Things I found answers to when I googled JFTR/JTR and read the applicable chapters. I am not exaggerating when I say that in the 7 government moves I have completed not a single time did TMO/Travel recommend the most advantageous option. It would be nice if we could at least trust that the help we get is going to be based on a complete knowledge of the applicable AFIs and governing regulations. Everywhere else is pushed down to the squadron where somebody passed a CBT to pick up the job as an additional duty. TMO and Travel or one of the last few places where members are supposed to get actual, educated help when they have non standard issues. So much admin stuff is already pushed to the end user now. It is very annoying to have to be knowledgeable in other people's jobs. You wouldn't know you were being mis informed unless you read the JTR yourself. So if you go in blind and expect them to tell you the best way to do your move you run the risk of hearing, "you can't have multiple pick up locations, it has to be listed on your orders, the only way to do it is with a really annoying PPM, thanks for coming in, bye". however, they don't have a sign out front that says " we are one of the good ones". Yes for a PPM you only get paid for the weight you move.I could have worded that first part better as OP was asking about a PPM.just wanted him to know a government move is an option. ![]() My first comment was more directed at a government move. In almost every case I have handled there is excess cost very rarely does the member not have to pay.Īs cynical as you sound.people make mistakes but to discredit all of TMO as incapable of doing research isnt the best way to proceed.įor the record most not all recommendations for PPMs is preferred because of either time constraints for pick up time or wanting to prevent damage to some or all items with partial/full PPM moves. AFI 24-603 v2 2.7.3 helps the wording with the JTR. So as far as authorized location it was incorrect for me say restricted for government arranged moves. They will say exactly what you said.then try to tell you to do a Dity move because it's less work for them that way. This is why you DO NOT just listen to TMO and you read the JTR yourself. Or go in to TMO and ask them to set up the move as a PPM to get an estimation based off weight moved. That's why he should use move.mil estimator to find out how much/ball park he would get paid to keep his expenses below that. Since every case is different it's best to proceed with caution. It's not locked in until it exceeds the weight entitlement. Then the member gets 95% of GCC regardless of if he moves more or less. The GCC is a sliding scale that is based off weight moved. The weight moved doesnt matter in terms of reimbursement unless it exceeds GCC so yes in a sense. If the OP has low weight to ship then it will probably still coat less to ship from multiple locations then a max weight shipment. ![]() Troll and spam posts/comments will be deleted.Īll Airmen from any Air Force are welcome here, though we are overwhelmingly from the US!
